Federal Express (unwittingly or not . . . but I think wittingly) uses the concept of "negative space" when it shortened its official logo to Fed Ex. Notice, if you will, the negative space between the E and the X in Ex.
What is formed is an arrow shape, indicating "go" "speed" "deliver" or something.
