Still to do...
* Paint new trim
* Return sofa pillows and get all chocolate brown ones and one that has a touch of wall color in it
* Paint purchased cork boards and hang over sofa (all at same height?)
* Place new 6 x 9 oatmeal berber rug when it comes in at the end of next week
* Remove ruffle on love seat and sofa and use binding tape to cover exposed edges (use color close to wall color or chocolate brown?)
* Paint built-in book cases and mantle with the brown shade of paint that's been purchased.
* Add live plants.
Questions:
Do you like the vases I found? Grasses? Suggestions if they're not quite right.
Do you like the lamps I found? I'm not entirely convinced they're right...bases are too dark and different color from current endtables, which are cherry wood.
Suggestions for low maintence live plants to purchase?

I do like the vases, expecially after I was able to get a 'close up' view. The bottoms have a nice detail. BUT the grasses need to be multiplied by 3, at least. It will be ok to spill over onto some of the picture. Wait until HL puts silk flowers (or whatever category they are in) half price, and get them then. They should do that every month or so.
Now, if when you are out and about you find another "object" that you like as well, just stuff all of the grass into one and put it on the left. Put the other object on teh right. The vase it so unique, it kind of needs to stand alone...but that is OK!
Nix on the lamp. Your mom is sending me a picture of some in her basement. You really need bright brass lamps, tall ones, to tie into the fireplace.
No family photos on the mantel. Search through your house 'Design Remix" style, and find several small items to group. You may even have to open boxes in storage!
When the cork boards come, it would probably work best to paint the cork the wall color with the chocolate trim.
I'm thinking that you could seperate the three boards with two columns of 3 each matching photo frames, using and updating photos of the girls. Use an 8 x 10 black frame with cream mat (or off-white; even white would be ok) that frames a 4x6 photo. They may even have those at Wal-Mart. Make sure it is sturdy enough to take frequent change-outs, as some matal tabs break easily on the back.
Regarding the bookcase, decluttering is the key. Pick out your hardbacks and larger paperbacks, and put the others in another room. Again, go looking for things that you would like to display, like a favorite plate, or candy dish, or small vase, or certificate, or......you get the idea. When you go to HL again, look for inexpensive but attractive bookends to hold up floppy books. This is also where family photos go, but only one per shelf, to make them special.
I will investigate low-maintenance house plants. What direction does your window face? That is really important. Is there just that one window, or does light come in from another source in the next room?
